My AI is where your custom characters belong. The character profile sets who you are talking to; the conversation supplies the scene and what happens next.
Keep the profile and conversation consistent
Use one name, an adult age and a clear personality. Choose a relationship and occupation that fit the scene. A brief profile with a few compatible traits is easier to follow than a long list of contradictory instructions.
Appearance choices describe the character you are creating. They are not permission to imitate a person without consent. Use fictional identities or authorized likenesses.
Before changing an existing character
Check which character version you are editing. Moving an eligible V1 character to V2 is not reversible, and new V1 characters are no longer offered.
Keep a record of the description you want to retain before making changes. A new character profile and an existing conversation are not interchangeable; starting again can change the context available to the character.
Find a character in the correct account
If your custom characters are missing, confirm the account email and original login provider. Signing up again with a different method can create another account rather than restore the first one.
Check free-access and plan limits before creating another character. A character slot is different from the token balance used for eligible media.
Questions and answers
Does editing a character restore an old conversation?
No. Character settings describe the profile. They do not restore a permanently deleted chat.
Can I create a new V1 character?
New V1 character creation is no longer available. Review the current creator options and check the version before converting an older eligible profile.
